Students at Chapin Street School are on a mission to spread some #joyatchapin throughout the community of Ludlow by leaving colorful and inspirational rocks around town.  Chapin Street Principal, Nikki Reed explained that the project was an optional PBIS activity (Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports)- “Each student who participated painted a one-of-a-kind, positive, inspirational rock that they will bring home, and with their parents support, they will place their rock at a special place in Ludlow to inspire a smile or happy thoughts, in others.”

“You can design your rock using any color paint- be creative and have fun,” instructed Ashley Antoine, Chapin Street Adjustment Counselor, as the students gathered for the activity. “Just remember we are hoping your rocks will spread joy, happiness and kindness to others, so make them bright and happy!”

Makayla Carney was very excited that she would be sharing her rock, “I think I am putting it in my friend’s yard.  She is going to like it - it will make her happy.”

“I’m putting my rock at Big Y,” shared Connor Castro. “I hope other kids will find it to make them happy.”

Kelly DeGobbi was one of the five mothers who volunteered their time to assist with the project. “My son Liam said he wanted to bring his rock to the Ludlow Reservoir to make the animals happy!  We’re there a lot- running, walking, going on nature scavenger hunts.”

So, if you happen to be out and about in Ludlow and notice a brightly colored, inspirational rock, the students at Chapin Street School are hoping their mission to spread #joyatchapin and beyond, will make your day a bit brighter by bringing a smile to face!
