During the month of December, the Student Council at Chapin Street School sponsored the annual Toys for Tots Drive to collect toys for children in need. Toys for Tots is a non-profit charity directed by the U.S. Marines Corp. The program collects new, unwrapped toys every year, between October and December, to ensure children less fortunate receive a gift during the holiday season.
Ms. Amber Goodreau, 2nd grade teacher and Student Council Adviser, shared that throughout the month, over seven bins of toys were collected for the drive.
On Sunday, December 18th, the Ludlow community, including Chapin Street students and their families, gathered at the school, awaiting Santa's arrival to collect the donated toys. However, due to the inclimate weather, Santa’s ride was cancelled, but the toys were brought to the Ludlow Town Hall, just in time for Santa to take them away!
