Principal Nikki Reed
Principal Nikki Reed

Monday morning, October 17th, was like many other mornings for Mrs. Nikki Reed, Chapin Street Principal. She greeted students as they entered school and then went about doing what principals do- attended a meeting, checked her email, returned phone calls and then ventured out to a classroom to observe 3rd grade students participate in a math lesson.

As she sat and observed these very ambitious and intelligent students complete math problems, she was unaware that she had been nominated by Chapin Street teachers, and was about to learn that she was one, out of one hundred recipients, of the 2016 Scholastic Reading Club’s Principal Appreciation Month Sweepstakes. When Reed opened the Scholastic gift box, filled with sweet treats and a congratulatory note, that was presented to Reed by the classroom teacher, Mrs. Sally Condino-Kelly, she was completely surprised and overwhelmed.

Students were in total agreement that Reed was deserving of the recognition. “It’s amazing because she is a great principal,” shared Alex Spurlock.  Karina Slivka added, “Mrs. Reed is the best principal ever, so I’m glad she got the award.”

Reed was very touched by the recognition, “It is heartwarming not only to have received this recognition, but to know that teachers at Chapin Street School took the time to nominate me;  that means more to me than you can imagine.  I am very fortunate and grateful to work with some amazing staff.”

Congratulations Principal Reed on this well deserved recognition!
